TanksALot:

small steps towards something worth building

Every project starts somewhere. For TanksALot, we’re still near the beginning.

There isn’t a fleet ready to launch or a finished experience to book. What we have is an idea, a reason to pursue it and some important work underway.

We want to create outdoor experiences that bring people together, with accessibility considered from the start. To do that properly, we need to understand what people actually want, what gets in their way and where our ideas might help.

Our first steps have included conversations with wheelchair users and a survey about access to beaches and woodland. We’re trying to hear from people across different circumstances, because one person’s experience cannot represent everyone.

We’ve also been working on safety and exploring where the project could develop. Some of that work is technical. Some involves asking better questions. Much of it happens quietly, long before there is anything impressive to photograph.

Keeping the project moving has meant being realistic about our own limitations too. Time, energy and resources affect what we can do. We’re learning to work within those limits while keeping sight of why we started.

This blog will share that journey honestly: the questions, the learning, the small steps and, eventually, what those steps make possible.

For now, one of the most useful ways you can help is by sharing your experience.

Complete our Beach and Woodland Access Survey, or pass it to someone whose perspective we should hear.

Thanks for being here at the beginning.
